We Need ₦21bn To Complete NASS Renovation – FCT Minister

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammad Bello has revealed that the administration need a total sum of ₦21.029 billion to complete the ongoing National Assembly Complex renovation.

Bello made this known during an oversight function embarked upon by the Senate Committee on FCT. The minister disclosed that the National Assembly Phase II project popularly known as ‘the White House’ was built from 1996 to 1999 by ITB Nigeria Ltd adding that no major rehabilitation work has been done since then.

In a minor rejig of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Philip Tenimu Aduda (FCT) one of the senators who had been nominated for the position has been finally named as the new Minority Leader of the Senate.

The Nigerian Senate President, Ahmad Lawan had made the announcement in a letter he read during the plenary on Tuesday.

The letter was signed by the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Samuel Anyanwu.

The police command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has arrested 51 suspected looters and recovered some stolen items at Jabi-Daki-biu, Idu Industrial Estate Karim area.

Mr. Bala Ciroma, the FCT Commissioner of Police, made the disclosure at a news conference on Monday in Abuja.

Ciroma said that the operation that led to the arrest was necessitated by the looting and destruction of public and private warehouses in Abuja by some suspected hoodlums.

A Federal Capital Territory, FCT, High Court sitting in Maitama, Abuja on Tuesday discharged former Kogi West Senator, Dino Daniel Melaye of criminal charges leveled against him by the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF.

The FCT High Court cleared Melaye of giving false information to police, as claimed by the AGF.

He was accused of deliberately accusing the ex-Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Governor, now Deputy Governor, David Onoja of plotting to assassinate him in April 2017.

FCT Shuts Down Pacific Hotel For Violating Restriction Order

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Ministerial Task Team on Enforcement of COVID-19 Restriction on Tuesday, sealed-off Pacific Hotel and Guest Inn for violating the Presidential ban on hotels operation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The task force team sealed the hotel situated at Boundary Road, Nyanya, Abuja following a court order granted by an FCT Magistrates’ Court sitting at the Eagle Square.

The guest inn was also sealed off for breaching the presidential order of lockdown.

FCT Aborts Move To Sack Striking Doctors

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has withdrawn its threat to sack striking medical doctors within the FCT if they failed to go back to work within 48 hours.
