Governor Fayemi pointed out that democracy goes beyond the right to choose leaders through the ballot, but stimulating civic engagement to better the lives of the citizens.
The Governor stated this  Wednesday while delivering a paper at the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), Washington DC, United  States.

Fayemi Presents ₦124.7b Budget Estimate To Ekiti Assembly

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has presented the 2020 Appropriation Bill of ₦124, 724,869,355.95 to the House of Assembly. The bill, which is christened ‘Budget of Deliverables’, has ₦53,538,093,806.59 (43 per cent) as capital expenditure, while the recurrent expenditure is ₦71,186,775,549.36 (57 per cent). Fayemi said the budget was tailored after his administration’s five-pillar agenda for development, which is aimed at enhancing good governance and speedy economic transformation of the State.

In Ekiti State: Fayemi Remits ₦4Bn UBEC Counterpart Funds

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has said the payment of counterpart funds by his administration will facilitate the transformation of basic education in the state.

The Governor disclosed this in Ido Ekiti while commissioning a block of six classrooms at Ekiti Parapo College as part of activities marking the first anniversary of his administration.

Fayemi, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, disclosed that payment of ₦4 billion counterpart funds to the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) will change the face of basic education in the state.

Sacked Ekiti workers protest, beg Fayemi for re-absorption

Some workers recently disengaged by the Ekiti State government for being  ‘irregular workers’,  yesterday   staged a peaceful protest to appeal to Governor Kayode Fayemi to reverse  the decision.

  The Nation gathered that among the protesters were the 568 primary and secondary school teachers recruited into Teaching Service Commission (TSC) by ex-governor Ayodele Fayose. They are among the 2,000 state workers employed after the July 14, 2018 election.

The protesters stormed the Teaching Service Commission located within the State Secretariat complex at about 8.30am with their letters of appointments to show that they were legitimately hired.

Governors Nasir el-Rufai (Kaduna) and Dr. Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) are contesting for Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) chairman.

But there are indications that a Southwest candidate may get the job since the outgoing chairman, Zamfara State Governor Abdul-Aziz Yari, is from the North.

El-Rufai is, however, said to have insisted on getting the slot and he is yet to agree to step down for any of his colleagues.
