Chinese Factory Activity Remains Steady In December

China’s factory activity was in expansion territory for a second straight month in December amid a thaw in a trade war with the United States, official data showed Tuesday.

The closely watched Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), a key gauge of activity in the country’s factories, was at 50.2 in December, posting the same gain as the previous month, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

The reading — slightly above the 50-point mark that separates growth and contraction every month — beat a forecast of 50.1 by analysts surveyed by Bloomberg News.

At least 43 people were killed Sunday in a devastating fire that ripped through a bag factory in the congested old quarter of the Indian capital New Delhi, with survivors describing the screams of workers trapped inside.

Police and fire officials said they had rescued at least 58 people and did not expect to find more bodies.

At least 43 people have died in a factory fire in India’s capital New Delhi, with the toll expected to rise, police told AFP.

The blaze broke out in the early hours in the city’s old quarter, whose narrow and congested lanes are lined with many small manufacturing and storage units.

Nigerian Air Force, yesterday announced it will partner Cross River government for the production of uniforms for its personnel at the state garment factory.

Dangote Tomatoes Processing Plant has established a ₦3 billion Green House nursery in Kano, designed to process over 300 to 350 million tons of hybrid tomato seedlings expected to make Nigeria self-sufficient in tomatoes production.
