One of the world’s most wanted men is on Wednesday due to face an extradition hearing in a Paris court for his alleged role in the 1994 Rwandan genocide.

Felicien Kabuga, born in 1935, is sought by an international court on seven charges of involvement in genocide and crimes against humanity.

French police earlier this month tracked him down to an apartment in a Paris suburb where he was living under a false name, after years on the run.

Belgium Suspends Extradition Case For Catalan MEPs

A Belgian judge on Thursday suspended consideration of a Spanish warrant seeking the return of two Catalan separatist leaders to face trial, their lawyer said.

Exiled former Catalan regional president Carles Puigdemont and his health minister Toni Comin were elected members of the European Parliament in May last year.

The European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruled last month that they enjoy immunity from prosecution unless Spain requests this be removed and their fellow MEPs agree.

Several hundred thousand people jammed Hong Kong’s streets on Sunday in a last bid to thwart a proposed extradition law that would allow suspects to be sent to China to face trial, with police bracing for the biggest march in the city in 15 years.

Police chiefs called for public restraint, government-funded broadcaster RTHK reported, as they mobilized more than 2,000 officers for a march that organizers expected to draw more than half a million people.
