Panic As Explosion Rocks Taraba

There is palpable tension after a loud explosion was again heard in the ATC area of Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State Sunday night.

Speaking through the state police command through its Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the explosion to Africa Daily News, New York on Monday morning.

Though the police could not give detailed reports of the explosion, the PPRO, however, promised to get back to our correspondent as soon as further information was made available to the command by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area.

Panic As Bomb Explosion Hits Kogi

Residents in Kabba, Kogi State, have been thrown into confusion following an explosion which has left an undisclosed number of people dead and many people injured. 

Africa Daily News, New York gathered that the ugly explosion occurred opposite Mannajot Petrol Station on Sunday evening, with a yet-to-be-ascertained number of people feared injured.

Details of the blast are still sketchy but a security source linked the bomb explosion to the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), formerly known as Jamā’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād.

Fresh Gas Explosion In Old Havana Injures Three

A gas explosion in Havana injured three people yesterday exaclty in the same neighbourhood where a similar blast that left 44 dead and destroyed an iconic hotel was reported last week, authorities have confirmed.

The victims were a father and son and a neighbour, local official Yamila Velazquez told state television.

“The child’s father had flipped the switch and there was an explosion. A neighbour suffered injuries to her legs and arms,” Velazquez said, adding that the three victims were taken to a hospital by neighbours while the fire brigade cut off the neighbourhood’s gas supply.

Tension As Explosion Rocks Agip Facility In Bayelsa

There is tension in Nembe, Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. following an explosion that rocked the facility of the Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC).

Eni, which is the parent company of NAOC, on Monday revealed that the blast has disrupted oil production, cutting oil export from its Brass Export terminal by some 25,000 barrels per day.

One Person Hospitalised As Explosion Rocks Houston

A large explosion, on Friday, jolted the U.S. city of Houston, with authorities saying at least one person had been hospitalised.

The blast, which was believed to be an industrial facility, shattered windows of nearby buildings and was felt kilometres away.

Smoke and flames could be seen from the site in the North-West of the city.

Simon Mallam, Nigerian Prof Killed In Gas Explosion Buried

The remains of late Prof. Simon Mallam who died in a gas explosion in Sabo Tasha, Kaduna have been laid to rest in his hometown, Malagum, Kaura Local Government, Kaduna State.

Mallam, a Professor of Nuclear Physics at the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, was until his death, the Chairman of Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

He was among the eight persons killed in the gas explosion on Jan. 4, 2020.

Mallam’s remains were laid to rest on Saturday, after a funeral Service held at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Malagum.

Kaduna Explosion: DPR Recovers More Bodies Of 3 Victims

The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) on Friday said a combined team of DPR, KEPA and other agencies have recovered mutilated bodies of three more victims of the Jan. 4 Kaduna gas explosion.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the recovery of the three bodies brings to eight the number of victims killed by the gas explosion.

The North West Zonal Controller, DPR, Isa Tafida made the disclosure during a condolence visit to the family of the late Chairman of Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission, Prof. Simon Mallam.

Bomb Explosion Kills 9, Injures 26 In Mali

At least nine people were killed and 26 injured after an explosion in northern Cameroun, local authorities have confirmed on Tuesday.

The incident occurred on Monday in Fotokol, a town near the border with Nigeria, when “young men in search of metals’’ stumbled on a homemade bomb before mistakenly detonating it, Regional Governor Midjiyawa Bakari confirmed.
