A Bronx restaurant delivery worker fell to his death from the fire escape of his Bronx apartment building early Thursday, and his distraught family is demanding answers.

Police believe Gerardo Villano, 24, slipped on a patch of ice on the fire escape of his building on Grand Concourse near E. 178th St. in Mount Hope and plunged four stories to an interior courtyard at about 5:20 a.m. He was declared dead at the scene.

Bayelsa: Four Journalists Escape Death After Boat Capsizes

A boat conveying journalists across flooded parts of Sampou community on Nun River in Kolokuma Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa capsized and threw the four occupants into the water.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the boat was carrying four journalists covering the governorship elections, including its correspondent.

The journalists were returning from the polling station when the incident happened and left the victims submerged but the timely intervention of sympathisers rescued the journalists whose mobile phones, cameras and recorders were all completely drenched beyond repair.

Two Murder Suspects Awaiting Trial Escape From Jail

Two “dangerous” murder suspects escaped from a California jail on Sunday and remain on the loose, according to authorities.

Santos Fonseca, 21, and Jonathan Salazar, 20, were awaiting trial on unrelated murder charges when they bolted from the Monterey County Adult Detention Facility in Salinas.

“We need the public’s help to be on the lookout” for them, the sheriff’s office said in a statement on Sunday.

Fonseca is 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds, and Salazar is 5-foot-7 and 170 pounds, according to the sheriff’s office. Both have black hair and brown eyes, and have been in custody since 2018.

Families of Islamic State (IS) group members escaped a displacement camp in northern Syria where a Turkish offensive against Kurdish forces has sparked fierce fighting, Kurdish authorities said Sunday.

“The brutal military assault led by Turkey and its mercenaries are now taking place near a camp in Ain Issa, where there are thousands (of people) from families of IS,” the Kurdish administration said in a statement.

No fewer than 30 people escaped death when a  luxury bus belonging to a popular transportation company carrying passengers from Enugu to Lagos, caught fire at Igbariam axis on the Enugu-Onitsha expressway.

It was gathered that one of the tyres of the bus got heated up and burst and that ignited the fire that spread to other parts of the bus. That attracted the attention of the driver who pulled up to check and saw the fire raging.

No fewer than 44 passengers escaped unhurt on Monday as a red high capacity bus marked GBE 257 XA caught fire on Otedola Bridge in Lagos.
