Lawan, Abaribe Trade Words Over Conduct Of 2019 Polls

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan and Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, yesterday, traded tackles over the authenticity of votes from the North East during the conduct of the 2019 presidential election.

The duo clashed when the Senate confirmed Professor Mahmood Yakubu as chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a second term.

Abaribe, had while making a case for a strong electoral system, questioned how INEC conducted elections in the North East in 2019 with huge turnout of voters and electoral victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC) despite the ongoing insurgency war.

Aide to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media matters, Lauretta Onochie, has criticised Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe for calling for her principal’s resignation.

Abaribe, while contributing to a debate on the deteriorating security situation in the country on the floor of the Senate yesterday, called for Buhari ‘s resignation claiming his government had failed to proffer solutions to the high rate of insecurity across Nigeria.

Buhari Reacts To Calls For His Resignation

President Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to demand for his resignation by Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe and others.

His position was contained in a statement Wednesday night by presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu.

It said just because some characters think that President Buhari should resign, then they expect him to quit.
