Emirates Airline Move To Reduce Operations In Nigeria

Emirates Airlines has revealed that has resolved to reduce its flight operations to Nigeria due to its inability to repatriate about $85 million in revenue.

The airline made this known in a letter addressed to the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika which was sighted by Africa Daily News, New York on Sunday.

The letter, dated July 22, was signed by Emirates airline’s divisional senior vice-president (DSVP), international affairs, Sheik Majid Al Mualla.

Emirates said the planned reductions in its operations in Nigeria would take effect from August 15.

Emirates Reverses Decision To Suspend Passenger Flights

Dubai carrier Emirates reversed on Sunday its decision to suspend all passenger flights, shortly after it said it would halt operations from March 25 amid the novel coronavirus outbreak.

The airline said it “received requests from governments and customers to support the repatriation of travellers” and will continue to operate passenger flights to 13 destinations, down from its usual 159.

Maputo β€” Emirates Airlines will begin scheduled flights to Mozambique in June, according to the chairperson of the Mozambican Civil Aviation Institute (IACM), Joao de Abreu.

A High Court sitting in Kano yesterday issued an order against the appointment of four new emirs in the ancient city.

Mr Timi Frank, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has warned that the planned creation of more emirate councils by Kano State Government would destroy traditional institution in the state.

The Kano State House of Assembly (KNHA), has approved the amendment of the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs law, paving way for the decentralisation of the Kano Emirate council.
