Emir Of Kano Reacts To Mysterious Deaths

The new Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has revealed that mass deaths recorded in Kano State are not connected to Coronavirus outbreak.

Scores of people, including elites and prominent indigenes of the state, have died in Dala, Fagge, Tarauni, Nasarawa, Gwale and Kano Municipal within one week.

Among those already buried are academics, administrators, bankers, media practitioners and businessmen.

However, the new Emir of Kano in a statement personally signed maintained that the deaths were not COVID-19 related.

The Kano State House of Assembly on Monday suspended five members following fracas that broke out last week when Muhammadu Sanusi II, was dethroned as Emir of Kano.

Speaker of the House, Abdulazeez Gafasa, said the members were suspended for six months for alleged misconduct and abuse of house rules.

Those suspended are: Garba Ya’u Gwarmai, representing Kunchi/Tsanyawa constituency; Labaran Abdul Madari, representing Warawa constituency, Isyaku Ali Danja, representing Gezawa constituency; Mohammed Bello, representing Rimingado/Tofa constituency and Salisu Ahmed Gwangwazo, representing Kano Municipal respectively.

Dethroned Kano Emir, Sanusi Drags IGP, DSS To Court

Dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II has dragged the Inspector General of Police, IGP, and the Director-General, Department of State Service, DSS, to court over his continued confinement in Nasarawa State.

Sanusi’s legal team filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja on Thursday, seeking his release from banishment.

The former Emir’s legal team is led by Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and the suit number is FHC/ABJ/CS/357/2020.

The Kano state government has come under attack over the banishment of dethroned Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to Nasarawa state.
