Justice I. E. Ekwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja has summoned the Central Bank Governor, Mr. Godwin I. Emefiele to appear before him.

Emefiele is summoned to answer questions on why he should not be committed to prison for defaulting in the payment of $53,000,000.00 (Fifty Three Million US Dollars) creditor balance.

Justice Ekwo issued the judgment summons to Emefiele in a case with Suit No FHC/ABJ/CS/1193/2017 instituted against Central Bank of Nigeria as Garnishee/Respondent, Linas International Limited and the Minister of Finance as Judgment Debtors Garnishees by Mr. Joe Agi Judgement as Creditor/Applicant on behalf of a team

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, yesterday explained that the banking sector regulator decided to review downward bank charges to ameliorate the pains of customers.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, says he will bring inflation to single digit within the next five years.

Emefiele made the promise in Abuja on Monday during a press briefing on his policy road map in his second term.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the inflation rate dropped to 11.4 per cent as at May.

CBN has no multiple exchange rates – Emefiele

Those accusing the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) of operating multiple foreign exchange (forex) rates are wrong, CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele has said.

What obtains are multiple foreign exchange (forex) windows, Emefiele said.

The CBN boss spoke at the University of Ibadan (UI) Distinguished Leadership Lecture Series, organised by the university in collaboration with the apex bank in Ibadan.

The multiple forex windows ensures that forex reaches critical sectors of the economy, he added.

Emefiele noted that the naira exchange rate had substantially converged around N360/$1, whether it is in the parallel market, or in the CBN.

The Central Bank Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, has been conferred with a Honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration by the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).
