Prime Minister Boris Johnson was braced for trouble from Donald Trump’s visit just days before Britain’s election, but the US president headed home Wednesday having largely kept his promise to stay out of the campaign.

Johnson was forced to deny he was dodging Trump during his visit for a NATO summit, after failing to publicly greet him at Downing Street and holding their face-to-face meeting away from the cameras.

Appeal Court Upholds Ganduje’s Election

The Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna on Friday upheld the election of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State.
The court ruled that the appeal filed by Abba Kabiru Yusuf and his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) lacks merit.

The five-man panel of Appeal Court Judges led by Justice Tijjani Abubakar unanimously dismissed the appeal in its entirety and affirmed that Governor Ganduje was elected by the majority of Kano voters.

Lega Serie A Chief Resigns Amid Election Probe

Lega Serie A president Gaetano Micciche announced on Tuesday he was stepping down from his position amid a probe into his election in March 2018.

Genoa owner Enrico Preziosi’s claims that there had been irregularities concerning Micciche’s election prompted an Italian Football Federation (FIGC) investigation.

Appeal Court Affirms Ihedioha’s Election As Imo Governor

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Tuesday upheld the election of Emeka Ihedioha as Governor of Imo State.

The five-member panel in separate judgments dismissed the three appeals filed by the Action Alliance and its governorship candidate, Uche Nwosu, All Progressive Congress and its governorship candidate, Hope Uzodinma and that of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, Ifeanyi Ararume.

While that of the AA and APGA were dismissed in a unanimous judgment, that of APC was dismissed in a four-to-one split judgment.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday upheld the return of Darius Ishaku as Governor of Taraba.

The court also dismissed the appeal by the All Progressive Congress (APC) for being incompetent and lacking in merit.

The APC approached the appellate court to set aside the judgment of the Taraba Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which upheld the declaration of Ishaku as the winner of the March 9, governorship election.

Kogi Election: Victory, Race Well Won, Says Olame

Chairman igala Lagos party (APC) Chief Felix Olame has congratulated Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi on his victory in the just-concluded governorship election in the state.

The governor was declared winner of the poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday.

Chief Felix Olame in a statement signed by him rejoiced with the Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello on his re-election described Bello re-election as “victory for the people of Kogi and triumph of good over evil.”

Kogi: PDP’s Wada Dissatisfied, To Appeal Election Result

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Kogi State Musa Wada has rejected the election results being announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Wadda said he would go to the tribunal to appeal the election result he claimed to have won.

“They (Kogi people) should not despair,” Wada said in a video tweeted by the PDP.

INEC Cancels Election In Bayelsa Community Over Violence

Voting has been cancelled in Ologi (Ward 03) of Ogbia Local Government Area (LGA), a senior electoral official has said, following a violent incident that included “seizing” of an electoral official.

The official, Ukuachukwu Orji, who is the INEC supervisory resident electoral commissioner for Ogbia LGA, said members of the Ologi community forcibly prevented election in the riverine area.

“As our people (electoral officers) were coming into the community after crossing the river, they seized them and the materials and burnt all the materials.”

“They chased our people away and seized some but the military rescued them.”

Kogi Election: INEC Official Abducted In Lokoja

An unidentified official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been abducted in SUBEB polling unit in Lokoja.

The abduction occured after gunmen shot sporadically into the air while voting was going on.

It was gathered voters scampered for safety before the gunmen went away with the official.

Bayelsa Election: 3 Persons Shot, Angry Women Protest

At least three persons have been shot and stabbed at Opolo Ward 5 in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State during Saturday’s poll by suspected political thugs.

Those injured had been rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa for treatment.

Our Correspondent ran into women in peaceful protest against an alleged invasion by party thugs who invaded various polling units carrying dangerous weapons and shooting sporadically.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed disappointment over the late arrival of election materials to his polling unit, 39, in Otuoke, ward 13 in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa.
