The family of the winner of the annulled June 12 1993 presidential election, MKO Abiola, has appealed to the Federal Government to implement the manifesto of the late politician as a way of honouring him.

This, the family believes, would give succour to the less privileged in the country.

The Head of the Abiola Family, Murtala Abiola, made this appeal while addressing newsmen during the annual prayer session for the late business mogul at their family compound in Gbagura, Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State.

Lebanon Votes In First Election Since Outbreak Of Crisis

Lebanon went to the polls yesterday for its first election since multiple crises dragged it to the brink of failed statehood, with the ruling elite expected to comfortably weather public anger and restore normalcy.

The parliamentary election is a first test for opposition movements spawned by an unprecedented anti-establishment uprising in 2019 that briefly raised hopes of regime change in Lebanon.

However, observers have been warned not to expect any seismic shift, with every lever of power firmly in the hands of traditional sectarian parties and an electoral system rigged in their favour.

After an underwhelming campaign stifled by the …

On Thursday, troops stationed at the protest ground fired tear gas and …

US: Russia Warns Of ‘Scary Consequences’ Over Trump Ban

Donald Trump Suggests Delay To 2020 US Election

US President Donald Trump on Thursday floated an unprecedented delay to the 2020 election — which polls show him losing — but the suggestion drew cross-party fire and has virtually no chance of being accepted.

Trump, who faces Democrat Joe Biden on November 3, has no constitutional authority to change the date, which is set by law.

His mere airing of the idea, however, broke with presidential custom, adding to tension in a country ravaged by fallout from the coronavirus pandemic and set on edge by bitterly partisan politics.

Trump’s rationale was his claim, not backed by evidence, that large-scale …

In November voters are scheduled to head to the polls to select the next president, much of Congress and thousands of state-government candidates. But what could Election Day look like – or if it will even be held …
