Former Argentina playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme has won a three-way battle with bitter rival Diego Maradona and Gabriel Batistuta after his group won the elections at Boca Juniors, striking a big blow against his old foe Maradona.

The list headed by Jorge Ameal, who was club president between 2008 and 2011, won 52.8 percent of the vote from Boca’s 84,000 members, bringing Riquelme into the 33-time Argentine champions’ hierarchy.

Buhari Meets Bayelsa Governor-Elect, Lyon At Aso Rock

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday met behind closed doors with Bayelsa Governor-elect, Mr David Lyon, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor-elect was accompanied on the visit by National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiohmole, Gov. Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state, Gov. Badaru Abubakar Jigawa as well as Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, Mr Timipre Sylva.

NAN reports that Lyon, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the Nov. 16 election in Bayelsa was declared a winner after polling 352,552 votes.

The Lagos State Deputy Governor-elect, Dr Obafemi Hamzat has lost his father, Oba
Mufutau Olatunji  Hamzat.

He was until his death on Sunday the traditional ruler of Afowowa Kingdom in Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State. He was aged 86.

According to a family source who pleaded anonymity, his remains would be buried on Monday at his Yaya Abatan Street, Ogba residence according to Islamic rites.

The Bauchi State Governor elect, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has pledged to run an inclusive and participatory government.

Group appeals to senators-elect to support Lawan

The Sustainable Democracy Agenda (SUDA), a pro-democracy group, has urged senators-elect to support the bid of Sen. Ahmad Lawan, representing Yobe North, for the position of President of the 9th Senate.

The group’s convener, Malam Ibrahim Usman, made the appeal in a statement in Abuja on Sunday.

INEC refuses to recognise Gov. Okorochas as Senator-elect

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made good it’s word by not recognizing the election of Rochas Okorocha into the Senate.

Imo state governor’s name was missing among the Senate-elect who received their certificate of returns at the International Conference Centre Thursday.

Okorocha was said to have won one of the senatorial seats in Imo state.

No jubilation in Abia as Ikpeazu re-emerges governor-elect

Abia state governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has succeeded in his second term reelection bid. He was announced the winner of the 2015 Abia governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with 261,127 votes representing 59 percent of the 444,376 total votes cast.
