Probe Those Who Bought Properties Seized Under Magu – Fayose

Ayo Fayose, former Ekiti State Governor, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to order an investigation into the sales of properties seized by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) under the suspended acting chairman, Ibrahim Magu.

“Those recovered loots that were re-looted must be re-recovered”, Fayose said on Friday.

In a statement by his spokesman, Lere Olayinka, the former governor said the ongoing investigation will be incomplete without digging into “who bought what and how they were sold.”

He noted that the sole aim of the probe must not be to remove Magu from office.

There is an alleged plot to frustrate the probe of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the ongoing investigation of its suspended chairman, Ibrahim Magu, after some unknown people broke into the office of the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) and destroyed computers.

The NFIU office which is inside the Aso Rock Presidential Villa was burgled and at least seven computers containing sensitive financial information were taken away and others badly damaged.

The presidential panel investigating sundry allegations against the suspended chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, yesterday questioned the secretary, Olanipekun Olukoyede, and directors of the commission.

Magu is facing corruption allegation by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

The Department of State Service (DSS) has reportedly arrested Ibrahim Magu, the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of owning properties and transfer of funds through a third party abroad.

In a seven paragraph statement disclosed by DSS, the anti-graft agency chairman was said to have been found guilty of prejudicial to state security – withholding of EFCC files, sabotage, unauthorised removal of EFCC files and acts unbecoming of a police officer.

Malami Leads Moves To Sack Ibrahim Magu, In Damning Memo To Buhari

Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami, has recommended to President Muhammadu Buhari the sacking of Ibrahim Magu, the acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
