Don’t Transport Corpers From 6pm – FRSC Boss To Drivers

Boboye Oyeyemi, corps marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), says no driver should transport corps members leaving orientation camp from 6pm.

He gave the warning during the FRSC end-of-the-year meeting with transport union stakeholders, in Abuja, on Tuesday.

The meeting is one of the programmes done in preparation for the end of the year activities. It particularly looks at how vehicular accidents can be reduced during the festive periods.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members for Batch C Stream II had resumed orientation camps on November 28 and would end December 19.

FRSC To Hand Over Drivers Under Influence Of Drugs To NDLEA

Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) in Enugu State, Mr. Kalu Ogbonnaya has warned that any driver found to be under the influence of drugs during and after the yuletide will be handed over to the National Drug and Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

Ogbonnaya made the disclosure this weekend, in Nsukka during the flag-off of 2019 FRSC Nsukka Unit ember month sensitisation rally tagged “Road Safety is a state of mind, road traffic crash is an absence of mind, stay alert and stay alive”.

Imo Suspends Taxes, Levies From Commercial Drivers

Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has ordered the immediate suspension of daily tolls, tickets and taxes from all commercial drivers in the state until further notice.
This followed complaints of incessant harassment and extortion of commercial vehicle operators by alleged agents of the Imo State government.

In a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the governor on Public Enlightenment, Prince Eze Ugochukwu in Owerri, yesterday, the decision was taken at the State Executive Council meeting held on November 6, 2019, following a motion by the Imo State of Internal Revenue Service to that effect.

One Killed As Truck Drivers, Taskforce Clash In Ijora

A clash between truck drivers and some operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit at Lilypond area of Apapa on Thursday led to the death of one of the drivers.

According to eyewitness account, the truck drivers had come out enmasss to protest alleged extortion by the taskforce.
