Arik Air Donates To IDP In Benin

Arik Air has donated some relief items to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp, Uhogua, Benin City, Edo State, to enable them to celebrate the Christmas. The airline said the initiative was part of its corporate social responsibility.

Arik Air’s Head of Marketing, Central and West Africa, Andrew Odion and Benin Station Manager, Nwaorgu Obed, were present the Camp with various items ranging from foodstuffs, beverages, cartons of noodles, bedding, treated mosquito net, clothing amongst others.

The Camp Coordinators, Solomon Folorunsho and Evelyn Omigie, received the items on behalf of the IDPs.

ICRC Donates Food Items To IDPs In Benue

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has donated food items to over 80,000 internally displaced persons in Guma and Makurdi local government areas of Benue State.

Also, the Committee is carrying out a livestock deworming campaign which has reached over 100,000 cattle and other small ruminants belonging to pastoralist communities affected by violence in Nasarawa state.

The assistance, according to Majid Bakhtiary,  Head of the ICRC sub-delegation in Jos, were provided to alleviate the suffering of people in the affected areas.

Otedola Donates ₦100m To Lagos STF

Philanthropist and business mogul, Femi Otedola, has donated ₦100 million to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), making him the largest individual donor. Zenith Bank took the lead for corporate donors with ₦300 mnillion.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu thanked the donors at an event tagged: ‘Transformational Security’, organised by LSSTF at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, on Tuesday.

Ugwuanyi Donates 29 Patrol Vans To Security Agencies

Enugu Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, yesterday, donated 29 patrol vans to 10 security agencies in response to the recent rise of crime and insecurity in parts of the state.

Governor Ugwuanyi, while presenting the Innoson patrol vehicles, said the gesture was part of ongoing efforts to rejig the security architecture of the state.

The donation of the 29 security vehicles is coming eight days after the police were given 65 vans.

Qatar donates $480m in aid to Palestinians

Qatar has allocated 480 million dollars in aid to Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, the Qatari Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

It said 180 million dollars of the amount will go to humanitarian relief, provide support for United Nations programmes and support electricity services.

The other 300 million dollars in grants and loans will support the health and education budget of the Palestinian Authority.

Qatar, which has close ties with Hamas, has also recently pledged 150 million dollars for improving the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
