Ihedioha: APC Dismisses PDP Condemnation Of Judgment

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Friday, dismissed the grounds upon which the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, faulted the supreme court judgement that removed former Governor Emeka Ihedioha as governor of Imo State as reckless and baseless.

It also declared that Ihedioha did not win one-fourth in two-third of the total votes casted in the 27 local government areas of the state.

The ruling party affirmed that Ihedioha only won in 12 local government areas instead of 17 local government areas as stipulated by law.

Ganduje: Court Dismisses Bribery Case Against Governor

A Federal High Court in Kano has on Monday dismissed a suit filed by a Kano based lawyer Bulama Bukarti seeking an order of the court compelling the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate the state Governor Abdullahi Ganduje for allegedly receiving graft from a contractor.

The Judge dismissed the case for lack of substantial evidence.

Bulama had approached the court seeking an order to ask EFCC to provide report of its forensic investigation analysis on the said video showing Ganduje receiving bribe from an unknown contractor.

Trump’s Doctor Dismisses Speculation Of Chest Pain

Donald Trump’s doctor on Monday denied reports that the US president had recently suffered chest pain after he attended an unannounced medical checkup in Washington.

Trump, 73, spent just over an hour on Saturday having “examinations, labs and discussions” at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, his physician Sean Conley said in a statement issued by the White House.

“Despite some of the speculation, the President has not had any chest pain, nor was he evaluated or treated for any urgent or acute issues,” Conley said.

“Specifically, he did not undergo any specialized cardiac or neurologic evaluations.”

Buhari Dismisses Captain Usman As NCAA Director General

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday sacked the Director-General of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt Muhtar Usman and replaced him with Capt Musa Nuhu.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Aviation Ministry’s Spokesman, James Odaudu.

The reason for Usman’s disengagement was not immediately known as at press time. He was appointed NCAA boss in September 2014 by President Goodluck Jonathan for an initial five-year tenure that is renewable.

His successor, Capt. Nuhu was Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

A Scottish judge has dismissed a move to force Boris Johnson to comply with a law aimed at avoiding a no-deal Brexit.

Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal has affirmed the re-election of Rivers State Governor,  Nyesom Ezenwo Wike following the dismissal of the petition filed by the defeated African Action Congress (AAC) Governorship Candidate,  Biokpomabo Awara seeking the nullification of the March 9, Rivers State Governorship Election.
Also on Saturday,  the Tribunal dismissed the petition filed by the defeated Action Democratic Party (ADP) Governorship Candidate,  Mr. Victor Fingesi against the election of Governor Wike.

2019 Election: Court dismisses case against fake Buhari

The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) has dismissed the argument by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking to disqualify President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate for the 2019 General Election.

The court ruled that Buhari possess the West African School Certificate Examination, (WASCE), to contest the 2019 presidential election.

It said Buhari was not only qualified, but eminently qualified to contest the election, saying that the petitioners (Atiku Abubakar and PDP), could not run away from the fact that Buhari obtained WASCE which qualified him for the election.

Breaking: CCT dismisses Onnoghen, bars him for 10 years

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has found the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Walter Onnoghen guilty of violation of the code of conduct for public officers.

CCT Chairman, Danladi Umar, in a judgment on Thursday, held that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that Onnoghen is guilty.

CCT says it has jurisdiction to try Onnoghen made false asset declaration by deliberately omitting to declare the five domiciliary accounts he maintained with Standard Chartered Bank, and in which huge deposits were found.

Court dismisses Delta APC executive committee

A Federal High Court sitting in Asaba has sacked the Prophet Jones Erue-led executive council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State.

The court upheld the Chief Cyril Ogodo-led executive council as the authentic State APC executive body.

Although, Chief Ogodo was sworn in as the state chairman of the party by the former APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, his successor, Mr Adams Oshiomhole, inaugurated the Erue body.

The court also sacked ward and local government executives in the Erue-led executive and upheld the Ogodo wards and local government executives.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, sitting at the Apo, Abuja Judicial Division on Friday struck out a post-election matter instituted by Senator Godswill Akpabio, following his defeat by former Deputy Governor, Engr. Chris Ekpenyong, in the just- concluded National Assembly election for Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District.

Akpabio, former Senate Minority leader, defected last August from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state to the All Progressives Congress (APC) under which he sought reelection ticket.

Court dismisses Jonathan’s appeal on $8.4m forfeiture order

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed an appeal filed by Former First Lady, Mrs Patience Jonathan to upturn the 8.4 million U.S. dollars interim order of forfeiture made against her.

Justice Ejembi Eko, in a unanimous ruling held that it was incumbent on the appellant to prove before the trial court while the order should not be made permanent.
