Nigeria’s former Minister of Petroleum, Diezani Alison-Madueke forfeited assets worth N47.6 billion to the Federal Government Africa Daily News reports.
The EFCC Chairman, Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa, who made this revelation yesterday explained that the jewellery component of the assets was worth ₦14.6 billion.
Bawa revealed the figures before the House of Representatives Adhoc Committee investigating the status of recovered loot on Friday in Abuja

He also said that the houses seized from the former Minister are also valued at $80million, about N32.97 billion.

He stated this on Wednesday during an official visit to the Ibadan zonal office of the commission.
EFCC had in the last five years been on the trail of the former minister over alleged corrupt practices.

The EFCC boss wondered why
“It is fake news, just disregard it,” Wilson Uwujaren, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission spokesman, told The Guardian Nigeria in a phone conversation.
Asked if there was an amendment of charges against the former minister, Uwujaren again said it is all “fake news.”

The Federal High Court, Lagos yesterday ordered that a plot of land in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, allegedly belonging to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, be forfeited to the Federal Government.
Justice Chuka Obiozor made the forfeiture order following an application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The anti-graft agency had told the judge that the land, measuring 7,903.71 to 8,029.585 square metres and designated as Plot 9, Azikiwe Road, Old GRA (UAC Property on Forces Avenue), Port Harcourt, was reasonably suspected to part of proceeds of unlawful activities.
