Niger Delta: Akpabio Describes NDDC As Cesspool Of Fraud

The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr Godswill Akpabio, has described the Niger Delta Development Commission as a cesspool of corruption.

Akpabio, a former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, stated this during a courtesy call on Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River on Friday.

He lamented the behaviour of the workers of the commission, saying, “NDDC was a cesspool of fraud, the workers know it, the contractors know it, those who collected work but don’t do it, know it and those who collected money know it and I know it, I have the records,” he said.

Sen. Douye Diri, Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for the Bayelsa governorship election, on Saturday, described the electoral process as “smooth and peaceful”.
Diri made his thoughts known while speaking with newsmen shortly after casting his vote at Polling Unit 4, in Sampou, Kokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of the state.

He said that observations and feedbacks from some members of the public indicated that the process had been smooth and peaceful in some areas “although we have received calls concerning anomalies in some parts of the state.

“We urge the security agencies to be vigilant.”
