Insecurity: DSS Summons Sheik Gumi

The Department of State Services (DSS), has invited the renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi for questioning over a recent allegation against the Nigerian Army.

The Kaduna-based cleric had during an interview on ARISE Television programme, said bandits would not have had access to weapons if the security operatives are not conniving with the criminals.

The Presidency has taken a swipe on Nigerians criticising the invitation of former Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Deputy Governor, Obadiah Mailafia by the Department of State Services, DSS over his recent comments on Boko Haram.

Appearing on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday, Garba Shehu, the President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, said the DSS took the right decision.

Shehu pointed out that this was not the first time the secret police was inviting people for questioning, adding that Nigeria is not Mali.

Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) has received orders to arrest Samuel Ogundipe, a journalist with Premium Times for writing an exclusive report which exposed a rift between the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno and Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, sources familiar with the development told SIGNAL on Saturday.

Ogundipe’s report detailed how Monguno accused Kyari of undue and dangerous interference on matters bordering on national security and subsequently fired a warning memo to all service chiefs to desist from taking further directives from Kyari.
