As the world renowned playwright and Nobel Laureate price winner in Literature, Professor Wole Soyinka marks his 88th birthday today, Dapo Abiodun, the Ogun State governor, has openly described him as a rarest breed of mankind and one who has straddled planet earth with an exceptional candour.

Gov Abiodun similarly described the doyen of Medicine in Nigeria, Professor Emeritus Theophilus Oladipo Ogunlesi, who had trained many other professors and medical experts in Nigeria and abroad as a rare gift to the nation and the medical profession across the world.

Gov Abiodun Makes 72 New Appointments In Ogun

Governor Dapo of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has approved further appointments of 72 persons into statutory boards and commissions in the state.

In a statement on Monday by Gov Abiodun’s Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, it was gathered that the appointment is in fulfilment of the governor’s promise to appoint more people to run the affairs of the State’s commissions and boards.

75 Demoted Obas In Ogun Drag Gov Dapo Abiodun To Court

The 75 coronet Obas, who were recently demoted by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State have dragged him to court, saying he has no power to demote them.

DAILY POST reports that 11 of the demoted monarchs filed a suit on behalf of the entire 75 chiefs appointed as Coronet Obas by the government of Ogun state on May 13, 2019.

It will be recalled that former Governor Ibikunle Amosun had upgraded the 75 chiefs from Baales to Obas of their respective domains, saying it was in accordance with the Chiefs Law of Ogun State, 2006.

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hon. Segun Sowunmi, has said he would not reveal yet, the report of his investigations on why the legacy projects embarked upon by former Governor Ibikunle Amosun are suffering neglect under Gov Dapo Abiodun.

Sowunmi said his revelations might turn the state upside-down and could lead to Ogun people throwing stones.

Former Governor Amosun started some legacy projects before the end of his tenure, with assurances that he has paid contractors handling the projects.
