Obajana Controversy: Kogi Vows To Sue Dangote

The Government of Kogi State on Friday said it would drag Dangote Cement Plc to court and reclaim what rightfully belongs to the people.

The decision to go to court was taken at an emergency meeting on Thursday night between key government officials, led by Governor Yahaya Bello, and stakeholders representing the different ethnic groups in the state.

A statement signed by the Hon. Commissioner for Information, Kingsley Fanwo, said that, at the meeting, which ran into the early hours of Friday, all stakeholders resolved to head to court in the interest of the people and generations to come.

Dangote Receives Highest Civilian Honour In Cameroon

President Paul Biya of Cameroon has awarded Aliko Dangote the country’s highest civilian honour – the Commander of the National Order of Valour.

Biya explaining that the honour was conferred on Dangote in recognition of his efforts in the infrastructural development of Cameroon and Africa generally through his cement plants.

FG Grants Dangote Cement ₦22.32B Tax Credit

The Federal Government through the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has issued Dangote Cement Plc, tax credit certificates valued at ₦22.321billion.

The tax credit certificates were issued to the cement manufacturers after they ensured the construction of Apapa-Oworonshoki-Ojota road in Lagos and Lokoja-Obajana-Kabba road straddling Kogi and Kwata states.

Construction giants Julius Berger is handling the construction of the two federal roads, while Dangote Cement Plc is providing the funding.

To compensate Dangote Cement, the Federal Government has issued the company the certificates to cover for the tax that Dangote Cement would have paid.

He became $4.3 billion richer in 2019 with earnings from cement, flour and sugar, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Nigeria’s top philanthropists and Business moguls, Aliko Dangote and Chief Keshington Adebutu have promised to renovate the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja and Lagos National Stadium.

President Mohammadu Buhari, will tomorrow honour the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote and 24 others for improving productivity in the country.

Apart from Dangote, and chairman of Honeywell Group, Oba Otudeko will also be conferred with the 2019 National Productivity Merit Order Award.
