Aviation: Association Harps On Cyber Security Competence

 Mr Ishaya Dung, President of the National Association of Air Traffic Engineers (NAAE), has stressed the need for competence in cyber security to protect and boost air services.

Dung made this known at NAAE’s 2019 Annual General Meeting with the theme ‘Satellite Based ADS-B Technology and the Relevance to ATSEP Job’ in Abuja.

Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) is a primary technology supporting the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA’s) Next Generation Air Traffic Control System, which will shift aircraft separation and air traffic control from ground-based radar to satellite-derived positions.

Cyber crime in South East alarming, says EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it is worried over the frightening dimension which cyber crime has assumed in the country, especially the South East.

The South East Zonal Head of the commission, Mr Usman Imam, expressed the worry on Friday in Enugu while briefing newsmen on the activities of EFCC in the first quarter of 2019.

Imam said that cases of cybercrime, popularly called ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ had become alarming in the zone.

EFCC apprehends four suspects of cyber crime

Operatives of the Uyo Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested four suspected internet fraudsters in Calabar, the Cross River State.

Their arrests followed two seperate raids carried out in the early hours of May 4 and May 5.

The Saturday morning operation led to the arrest of a known “yahoo” kingpin, Akpojivi Joel Onoriode, a 29-year-old graduate of Delta State University, Abraka, who is married with two kids.

NCC laments rise in Cyber Crimes

The Executive Vice Chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Dambatta, has lamented rising cases of cybercrime and e-fraud in the country using telecommunications platforms, saying it poses a serious challenge to the Commission.
