Blasphemy: Tambuwal Announces Lifting Of Curfew In Sokoto

Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has announced the relaxation of the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state following riots by youths following last weeks murder of a Christain girl by name, Deborah Samuel for alleged blasphemy. 

In a statement which was issued on Monday by the state commissioner of information, Isah Galadanci, Tambuwal ordered the relaxation of the 24-hour curfew following a security report.

Police Arrest 46,000 In Sri Lanka For Violating Curfew

Sri Lankan Police said on Monday that more than 46,000 people had been arrested for violating a curfew, which has been in place since March 20, in several districts across the country.

In a statement, the Police said 46,284 people have been arrested for loitering on the roads, gathering and consuming alcohol at public grounds, travelling, keeping restaurants open, behaving in an unruly manner on the roads while intoxicated and engaging in trading as well as defying curfew rules.

Human rights groups have condemned the “unnecessary and excessive use of force” by Kenyan police as the country imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew amid efforts to slow the spread of the new coronavirus.
