The Anglican Communion in Calabar, Cross River State, has openly called for the immediate resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari and his government over their non-challance over Tinubu’s choice of a Muslim Vice President under the APC party.

The church while reacting to the Muslim-Muslim ticket had also expressed some deep disappointment at and outrightly rejected the national party, the APC, Muslim-Muslim’s presidential ticket for next year’s election while insisting that the secularity of Nigeria must be respected.

Looting: Ayade Orders House To House Search In Cross River

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has ordered for search of residential houses of people of Cross River State for possible recovery of looted items.

The Governor said in a press release signed by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity Christian Ita that security agents should take legitimate action to halt violence and recover the stolen items.

No COVID-19 Case In Cross River – Govt Counters NCDC

The Chairman of the COVID-19 Taskforce in Cross River State, Dr Betta Edu, has insisted that there is no COVID-19 case recorded in the state.

Recall that the NCDC’s Director-General, Chikwe Ihekweazu on Monday said that no state in Nigeria is COVID-19 free.

Ihekweazu said that a state can only talk about being coronavirus free, when it is testing adequately.

But, Edu during a press briefing with journalists in Calabar said that the state does not have any case, but advised residents to take all safety measures serious to safeguard their lives against the virus.

Gov Ayade Orders Arrest Of Fake Tax Collectors In Cross River

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has ordered the arrest of anyone found selling tickets or collecting any form of tax from those exempted from paying tax in the state.

The order was contained in a press statement issued on Sunday by Mr. Christian Ita, Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity.

The governor noted that some agents of the state still extort residents despite directives to desist.

He, therefore, ordered security agents to arrest anyone found wanting in that regard.

Medical Doctors Resume Services In Cross River

Medical Doctors in Cross River State have resumed work in all public and private hospitals in the State after withdrawing services for over twelve days.

The Medical Doctors withdrew their services in the State following the kidnap of their colleague’s wife, Mrs Christiana Ekanem who is an Assistance Director in the University of Calabar.

She was kidnapped on the 10th of March while on her way to work, but was released on March 21st.

The Cross River State Government has granted amnesty to over 400 ex-members of Bakassi Strike Force from Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State.

Speaking with DAILY POST via phone on Wednesday in Calabar, the State Security Adviser (South), Mr. Ani Esin said the programme was initiated in 2018 when the Bakassi Strike Force was seriously agitating in the high seas of Bakassi and Bakassi Peninsula waters.

A Federal High court in Calabar, Cross River State has granted journalist and rights activist, Agba Jalingo a ₦10 million bail.

A new judge, Justice Shuaibu presided over the case for the first time after taking over from Justice Simon Amobeda who recused himself from the case following condemnations that trailed refusals to grant the Journalist bail on three occasions.

In his ruling while granting bail applied by Agba Jalingo, Justice Shuaibu set the bail bond at N10 million with one surety in like sum.
