Gov Ayade Goes For APC Cross River North Senatorial Ticket

Fresh reports reaching the desk of Africa Daily News, New York has revealed that the Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River has emerged as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Cross River North Seat at the National Assembly for the 2023 poll.

Ayade, who emerged unopposed, was elected at a fresh primary election at the Ogoja Local Government Area (LGA) of the state on Thursday.

The election followed the voluntary withdrawal of Mr Martins Orim, who won the ticket at the May 28, primaries.

FG Partners Cross River Govt Over Solid Minerals Exploitation

The federal government has called for increased partnership with the Cross River State government over developing its huge solid minerals potential.

The Minister of Solid Minerals, Sampson Ugah, made this call in Calabar, Cross River State capital during a courtesy visit to the state governor as part of his two-day working visit to the state.

He said the state is blessed with over 33 solid mineral deposits and the federal, state and local communities must work together in harnessing these deposits to shore up the nation’s revenue base.

C-River Doctors Declare Indefinite Strike, Blast Ayade Govt

The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) Cross River chapter has withdrawn its services from all medical facilities in the state.

This was relayed in a letter addressed to the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire, from the state chairman of the association, Agam Ayuk, on Sunday.

Ayuk wondered why the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), was not including Cross River in its daily COVID-19 update.

Cross River is the only state in Nigeria where no single case of COVID-19 has been officially confirmed.

Only 4 beds, 1 Bad Ventilator In C-River Isolation Centre

Groups, Citizens Solution Networks and Young People’s Party (YPP) have decried the status of the isolation centre in Calabar, the Cross River State capital.

Speaking shortly after inspecting the facilities at the centre, the State Chairman of Citizens Solution Networks and Chairman of Young People’s Party (YPP), Richard Friday Inoyo and Mr Anthony Bissong Attah respectively, lamented the equipment in the centre.

The duo said “We were at the State isolation centre for onward assessment and the level of preparedness by the state in case the coronavirus catches up with us.”
