Coronavirus In Nigeria: Fani-Kayode Begs Buhari Govt

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Aviation Minister, on Friday urged the Federal government and Nigerians to unite in the fight against the deadly Coronavirus codenamed COVID-19.

Fani-Kayode urged federal government to be pro-active in tackling the deadly decease.

He made the appeal while reacting after the Nigerian government confirmed a case of the disease in Lagos State.

The Federal Ministry of Health on Friday had made the confirmation in a statement signed by Dr Osagie Ehanire, Minister of Health.

Twitter Reactions As Coronavirus Invade Lagos

Following the declaration of a confirmed case of the deadly viral Covid-19 also known as ”coronavirus” in Lagos by the Health Ministry, after an Italian citizen who entered Nigeria on the 25th of February from Milan, Italy for a brief business visit fell ill, Twitter has been agog with reactions to the news.

According to the Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, the patient fell ill on the second day of his arrival in Lagos and was transferred to Lagos State Biosecurity Facilities for isolation and testing.

Coronavirus: WHO Develops Guidance Documents

The World Health Organisation (WHO) says based on evidences available on Coronavirus (COVID-19), it has developed documents providing guidance for management of public health events at points of entry and during mass gathering.

WHO stated this on its official twitter handle at @WHO, in which the organisation urged governments to step up their efforts in preparing for the virus.

According to figures released by Chinese National Health Commission, a total of 79 new confirmed cases were reported on Tuesday outside Hubei, a 14th consecutive day drop since Feb. 3.
