In lieu of the recent rebuffs by the courts, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) and the House of Representatives have on Monday met to iron out the lingering issues bordering on the industrial action which had been embarked on by the lecturers.

The lecturers who had also been led by ASUU President, Emmanuel Osodeke and the leadership of the House, who had been in turn led by Femi Gbajabiamila had met behind a closed-door meeting for about 30 minutes before having another one in front of the camera.

EFCC Gets Court’s Permission To Detain Adoke For 14 Days

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) friday gave approval to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to detain former Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoke SAN, for 14 days.
The order was to enable the anti-graft agency conclude its investigation of Adoke over corruption allegations.
Adoke returned to the country Friday, after five years in self-exile, only to be arrested on arrival by the EFCC.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had in 2017 filed charges against Shell Nigeria Exploration Production Company Limited and 10 others, including Adoke and Nigeria Agip Exploration Limited.

Build Shari‘ah Courts In South-West – MUSWEN To Governors

Muslims in the South-west region under the auspices of Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN) have called on Governors Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Gboyega Oyetola (Osun), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) and Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos) to establish Shari‘ah Courts in the region.

The Muslims said the creation of the Shari’ah Courts in the six states of the region became necessary in order to cater for the yearnings of Muslims who are in the majority.

The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Benin and Owerri branches, have  embarked on boycott of courts over the kidnap of  Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme of the Court of Appeal, Benin Division.

Justice Ihem-Nwosu of the court of Appeal was abducted along Agbor-Benin Expressway on October 31 by armed men who killed her police orderly.
