The Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos on Saturday, upheld the election of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-olu of Lagos State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the five-man panel in two separate judgments, upheld Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the March 9 poll and dismissed the appeal by governorship candidates of Labour Party (LP) and Alliance for Democracy (AD).

The two parties and their candidates had appealed the Sep. 23 judgment of the Lagos State Election Petition Tribunal which upheld Sanwo-Olu’s victory.

Court Remand 2 Brothers For Allegedly Culpable Homicide

A Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday ordered that two brothers who allegedly killed their friend at a pool party, be remanded in a correctional centre, pending legal advice.

The police charged Shawal and Annas Mohammed, who both reside in Badarawa Kaduna, with  criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide.

The Magistrate, Lukman Sidi, who did not take the plea Shawal and Annas, ordered the police to return the case file to the Kaduna Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The Federal High Court in Abuja, on Thursday, ordered the electoral umpire to reinstate the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Natasha Akpoti, for the election in Kogi State.

Delivering judgement on Thursday, Folashade Ogunbanjo-Giwa held that the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) was wrong to have excluded Akpoti from the forthcoming election.

Mrs Ogunbanjo-Giwa also held that INEC has no power to disqualify any candidate for an election as it is the exclusive reserve of a competent court of law.

A Court of Appeal Court sitting in Owerri on Thursday upheld the election of Owelle Rochas Okorocha of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as senator representing Imo West Senatorial District.

The Chairman of the panel, Justice R.A. Ada, said that the appeals by Senators Osita Izunaso of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Jones Onyereri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against Okorocha lacked merit.

Ada however, reaffirmed the judgement of the State and National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal which upheld Okorocha’s election, adding that it was in order.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Kaduna has upheld the election of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state.

The court, in a unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Olumuyiwa Aburu in the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Isah Ashiru, affirmed the judgement of the election petition tribunal, which upheld el-Rufai as winner of the March 9, 2019, governorship election.

The Court of Appeal, sitting in Kaduna wednesday depleted the rank of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Senate caucus, removing the upper chamber’s spokesman, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, and replaced him with former minority leader, Senator Abiodun Olujimi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The APC in Ekiti State immediately rejected the verdict, saying it did not reflect the wish of the people. But the PDP hailed it as the restoration of the people’s mandate.
