Students, Journalists Count Losses As Fire Guts Lodge

Students of the Federal Polytechnic, Bauchi, and two journalists are counting their losses after fire razed down their compound in Gwalameji area of Bauchi metropolis on Sunday.

Daily Sun learnt that the fire started around 1:30 pm from one of the rooms at Tinubu Lodge.

One of the occupants, a journalist, working with THISDAY newspaper, David Adenuga, said: ”It was like a dream, I couldn’t believe that everything in my room has gone, I lost all my belongings to the fiIre.

Traders Count Losses Over Oyingbo Market Closure

Traders at the popular Oyingbo Market in Lagos have been counting their losses following its closure by Lagos State government over environmental infractions.

Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) on Thursday shut the market over indiscriminate refuse dumping and refusal to patronise Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators.

Other infractions included roadside trading and poor hygienic practices resulting in serious environmental problems in the area.

The traders, however, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday that the sudden closure without notice was adversely affecting their businesses.

2023: Count Igbo Out Of Nigeria If Chance Is Denied -Ezeife

Former Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has threatened to back any option taken by Igbo people in 2023, including pulling out of Nigeria if they are denied the chance to produce Nigerian president in 2023.

US slams WikiLeaks Julian Assange with 18-count charge

The United States Justice Department has charged WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange with receiving and publishing what it calls one of the largest compromises of classified information in the history of the United States.

The 18-count charge was announced Thursday by Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers, U.S. Attorney G. Zachary Terwilliger for the Eastern District of Virginia, Assistant Director John Brown of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Division and Acting Assistant Director in Charge Timothy Dunham of the FBI’s Washington Field Office made the announcement.

BREAKING: Adeleke in court on a fresh five-count charge

The Police on Tuesday arraigned Senator Ademola Adeleke, before a Magistrate Court in Mpape, Abuja on a fresh five-count charge.

Adeleke is, in the new charge, accused of forging a letter of attestation and result from Mustlim Grammar School, Ede Osun State, which he allegedly submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before he contested  the last governorship election in Osun State as the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The police already have a similar charge pending before the Federal High Court, Abuja in which he is currently being tried with four others.

I am not convinced my vote will count – Atiku Abubakar

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in penultimate Saturday’s presidential election Atiku Abubakar voted in Saturday’s Governorship and House of Assembly election in Adamawa State not convinced his vote will count.

Atiku, who voted about 12.30 pm at his Ajiya Ward in Yola North local government area, said the low turnout was evident of loss of faith in the electoral process by the people.
