Norway Princess’ Ex-Husband Ari Behn Commits Suicide

Norwegian author, Ari Behn, who was previously married to the country’s Princess Maertha Louise, died on Wednesday aged 47.

His manager told AFP that he had committed suicide.

“It is with great sadness in our hearts that I on behalf of the very closest relatives of Ari Behn must announce that he took his own life today,” Behn’s manager Geir Hakonsund said in an email to AFP.

Behn published his first book in 1999, a collection of short stories whose English translation is “Sad as hell”.

The Department for International Trade and International Development has committed an additional £2.5 million of UK aid funding for the Commonwealth Standards Network (CSN) programme, pledging that it would continue to partner Commonwealth in championing free trade in the face of growing global challenges.

A 40-year-old Zimbabwean Jotham Chakawa has committed suicide because his two wives were allegedly both cheating on him.

Reports say that Jotham Chakawa killed himself after suspecting his two wives, who happen to be sisters, were engaged in two separate adulterous affairs.

Chakawa is reported to have previously made two attempts to kill himself after suspecting that his wives Letwin Gwena (27) and Sekai Gwena (19) were covering for each other in their affairs.

Teacher, 40, commits suicide in Kano

A 40-year-old man, Femi Oguntumi, was on Friday found hanged to a ceiling fan in his room at Dakata Quarters Kano.

Oguntumi was a staff of Karish College in Kawaji area of Kano and there has been no indication yet as to what led to the incident.

However, the police say they have launched a discreet investigation to determine whether it was suicide or not.

Abdullahi Haruna, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kano state, said in a statement on Saturday in Kano that the police received information on the incident at about 8:15 p.m on Friday.

Ex-president Alan Garcia commits suicide over arrest

Peru’s former president Alan Garcia died in hospital on Wednesday after shooting himself in the head at his home as police were about to arrest him in a sprawling corruption case. He was 69.

The health ministry said Garcia died at 10:05 am (1505 GMT) of “a massive cerebral hemorrhage from a gunshot wound and cardiorespiratory arrest.”

Garcia was resuscitated three times after suffering heart attacks while undergoing emergency surgery, before finally succumbing, Peru’s Health Minister Zulema Tomas said.
