INEC Adjourns Collation Till Monday

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has adjourned the collation of the Kogi State governorship election result till 8am Monday.

The INEC Returning Officer for the state, Prof. Mohammed Umar, disclosed that this has become necessary to enable the collation officers do their work in the remaining two local government areas — Lokoja and Ibaji respectively.

Meanwhile, Governor Yahaya Bello is leading in the results of the 19 local government areas declared by INEC so far.

Kogi: Collation Officer Presents ₦50,000 Bribe

A collation officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kogi state on Sunday presented a N50,000 bribe politicians offered to a presiding officer in Igalamela-Odolu local government area of the state during Saturday’s election.

There was widespread financial inducement by politicians during the election.

The collation officer presented the money at the INEC headquarters in the state while submitting the result of the local government he coordinated.

Sources across the state indicated that the card readers functioned smoothly in most polling units.

In Yenagoa, a voter, Ebikeme Doubra, described the process as “peaceful except for isolated cases of attempts to snatch ballot box which was thwarted by security agents”.
