Ondo Church Massacre An Affront To Yoruba Race – Olubadan

The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, has described Sunday’s killings during a mass at St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, as an affront to the Yoruba race.

Oba Balogun made this known in a statement on Monday which was signed by his media aide, Mr Oladele Ogunsola, to commiserate with victims and their families.

He appealed to the six governors in the South-West region to wake up to their responsibility of securing the lives and property of their people.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain have sent out a message of condolence to President Muhammadu Buhari on the recent tragedy in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The Police Command of Rivers State had earlier confirmed the death of 31 persons in the stampede that occurred during a church program in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

Sex Is Not For Gay, Church Of England Amends Marriage Laws

The Church of England, on Thursday announced changes in marriage law.

In a statement issued by the House of Bishops, led by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby, the bishops declared that Christians in gay or straight civil partnerships should be sexually abstinent.

According to him, sex is for straight married couples only, adding that a lifelong union between a man and a woman, contracted with the making of vows remains the proper context for sexual activity.

The leaders of the Church, however, warned that churchgoers with civil partnerships should be treated ‘sensitively and pastorally’.

A 60-year-old Cherubim and Seraphim pastor based in Birmingham, in the United Kingdom, identified as Michael Oluronbi was on Tuesday, January 14th, convicted by a UK court for 24 counts of child sexual abuse and rape.

A gunman opened fire in a church in Texas, killing one parishioner and wounding another before being shot dead by members of the congregation.

The Roman Catholic Church is investigating how two nuns became pregnant while they were on charity missions to Africa. This has caused concern among the church hierarchy.
