US Cancels Visas Of 1,000 Chinese Nationals Over Security Risks

The United States of America has revoked visas for more than 1,000 Chinese nationals under a presidential measure, denying entry to students and researchers due to security risks, the State Department said on Wednesday.

The acting head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, Chad Wolf, said earlier that Washington revoked visas ‘for certain Chinese graduate students and researchers with ties to China’s military fusion strategy to prevent them from stealing and otherwise appropriating sensitive research.’

Illegal Mining: Amotekun Arrests More Chinese Nationals

The Western Nigeria Security Network, code-named: β€˜Amotekun Corps’ has arrested three Chinese nationals, suspected to be illegal miners in Osun.

The Corps, during a sting operation led by its Director-General, Amitolu Shittu, stormed Ido-oko, an agrarian community in Ilesa axis and also apprehended 20 locals.

Africa Daily News, New York reports that the sting operation was a follow-up on an intelligence report, which indicated that illegal mining activities were being carried out within the community.
