The US State of Missouri has sued China for deliberate deception and insufficient action in the handling of the deadly Coronavirus.

Following the impact of Coronavirus in the State, Missouri’s Attorney General, Eric Schmitt announced on Tuesday that it is seeking damages because China covered up information, silenced whistleblowers, and did little to stop the spread of the disease.

China on Thursday insisted that the country did not create COVID-19.

China pointed out that the World Health Organization (WHO) has cleared it of any wrongdoing.

The Federal Government on Tuesday blamed poor communication between the Chinese authorities and African consulates in Guangzhou, China, for the maltreatment of Nigerians in China.

Speaking during a press briefing in Abuja in the company of the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Zhou Pingjian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, said lack of communication made a lot of Nigerians and Africans misunderstand what was happening in China.

According to him, if there was effective communication, African consulates would have assisted the Chinese authorities in the action it was taking.

Fears In China Over New Cases, Weeks After Slow Down

China on Monday reported the highest number of new Coronavirus cases in nearly six weeks.

This occurred as the country battles to prevent more COVID-19 infections, weeks after containing the pandemic.

No fewer than 108 people tested positive in the past 24 hours, Dpa reports.

The figure includes 98 travellers returning from abroad, according to the National Health Commission.

There are concerns about a resurgence of the disease since March 6, when authorities counted 143 new cases.
