At some point in my teenage years, I chased popularity like a big-time whore. I chased it like a man wooing a deaf, prideful woman. It will precipitate some awkward lifestyle and decision that will alter drastically any meaningful progress.
Popularity would lead to unfettered “ass-kicking” and pandering to others who are perceived to be in that clique you intend to gain recognition into. It would also lead to subtle arrogance as you get noticed with time “only in your head” actually.
