The Federal Government has taken delivery of two fighter helicopters to boost the ongoing fight against insurgency and banditry in the country.

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, disclosed this when he briefed State House correspondents on the outcome of the meeting of Security Council at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday.

The security council is made up of heads of security agencies in the country.

Some of those present include the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin; the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Ibok Ekwe-Ibas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Abubakar Sadique.

Face-off between Olubadan, chiefs deepens

The face-off between the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji, and his high chiefs deepened on Tuesday with the first class monarch ordering them to remove their “ illegal crowns.’’

The Olubadan said that he had no objection to the return of his high chiefs to the palace “ once they remove their illegal crowns.’’

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the high chiefs had on Monday accused the Olubadan of running a “ one-man-show’’ and disregarding the Olubadan-in-Council.

INEC, security chiefs meet ahead of Saturday’s elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) and the security agencies involved in the conduct of the general elections met on to concretise security arrangements ahead of Saturday polls.

On Saturday 9th March 2019, Nigerians are expected to elect Governors in 29 States, as well as members of Houses of Assembly in all the States of the Federation.
