The Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva has made a u-turn and withdrawn from the presidential race in the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The petroleum minister had given his reason as having considered the enormous work at the ministry and thus had to let go of his presidential ambitions.

Buhari Govt Is No Longer Fixing Petrol Price – Sylva

The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, has reiterated that the Federal Government is no longer fixing the pump price of petroleum products in the country.

Sylva made this known while briefing newsmen today on the increase in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol.

The Petroleum Products Marketing Company (PPMC) had on Wednesday announced a new Ex-depot price of N151.56 for petrol.

Chief Timipre Sylva, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, said President Muhammadu Buhari had approved the establishment of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), oil and gas logistic Centre in Akwa Ibom.

Sylva gave the hints at a Gala night organised by the Akwa Ibom Government in honour of a delegation of Stakeholders in the oil and gas industry retreat in Uyo on Saturday.

Among other things, the Federal Government is working towards the production of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as an alternative fuel to the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) petrol this year.
