CDS Irabor Blasts Gov Matawalle For Call To Bear Arms

General Lucky Irabor, who is the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), has openly faulted the call by Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State who had appealed to the people of the Zamfara State to bear arms to defend themselves against bandits over the rise of insecurity and banditry in the State.

Irabor had also reiterated that the call was not right, as the armed forces and some other security agencies were there to handle the challenges, while adding that Governor Matawalle does not have the power to instruct the Commissioner of Police to issue licenses.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has asserted that the citizens of Nigeria must trust the military and other security agencies for the war on insecurity to be more effective.

He made the comment while speaking on a Channels Television special program for Democracy Day which was monitored by Africa Daily News, New York.

‘It is for us to have an understanding that we can’t withhold information and expect miracles to happen,’ he said. ‘Certainly it’s not going to happen.

‘I’m a victim as well as any Nigerian that is on the street. We are all victims together.
