Land Use Charge: Lagos Assembly Amends Ambode’s Law

Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have amended the Land Use Charge Law, 2018 passed by the Akinwunmi Ambode government.

Ambode was widely criticised for the controversial Law.

The 6-man Ad Hoc Committee, Chaired by Hon. Rotimi Olowo, presented the report of the findings of the committee to members at the Plenary on Monday.

According to him, the House in response to the outcry of residents in some sections in the Principal Law on Land Use Charge, 2018, organised a Public Hearing to ensure public participation.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has urged customers not to pay N50 charged to businesses for using point of sale (PoS) machines.

A Director in CBN’s Payment System Management Department, Musa Jimoh, explained the central bank’s merchant charge directive in a chat with TheCable yesterday.
