Professor Kabiru Emerges New Vice Chancellor Of ABU, Zaria

The Governing Council of Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria on Wednesday, announced the appointment of Professor Kabiru Bala as the new Vice Chancellor of the university.

He took over from the incumbent, Professor Ibrahim Garba, whose tenure would come to an end on 30th April, 2020.

Professor Bala is a Professor of Building and a former Deputy Vice Chancellor as well as Dean, School of Postgraduate Studies of the university, among positions he holds.

The Council, under the chairmanship of Malam Adamu Fika, made its position known at the Arewa House, Kaduna where the interview and the Council meeting took

ABU Chancellor Wades Into VC Selection Crisis

The Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe has waded into the crisis over the selection of a new Vice Chancellor of the institution.

The Chancellor in a letter to the federal ministry of education and National Universities Commission, NUC, urged them to take urgent steps towards resolving the impasse.

He explained in a letter to the Executive Secretary, NUC, Prof Abubakar Rasheed, that the impasse was already common knowledge and could seriously dislocate the peaceful working of the institution.

Former US secretary of state and presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was appointed Thursday as the new chancellor of Queen’s University Belfast.

Clinton will serve for five years in the largely ceremonial role, the Northern Irish institution announced.

“It is a great privilege to become the chancellor of Queen’s University, a place I have great fondness for and have grown a strong relationship with over the years,” Clinton said in a statement.

“The university is making waves internationally for its research and impact and I am proud to be an ambassador and help grow its reputation for excellence.”

The outgoing Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Faraday. F. Orunmwense, has announced that 100 students would be awarded first class degrees honours during this year’s convocation ceremony of the institution.
He disclosed this to newsmen at the pre-45th convocation/49th Founder’s Day briefing ceremony of the institution.

He said 10, 198 graduands would be awarded various diplomas and degrees from the university and that 100 among them will be graduating with first class honours, 2,274 with second class upper, 4,011 second class lower, 592 with third class while non graduated withΒ  a pass.

The Governor gave the indication during the installation of His Eminence, the Oku Ibom Ibibio, Ntenyin Solomon Daniel Etuk JP as the second Chancellor of the state-owned University.

The State Chief Executive extolled the sterling qualities of the newly installed Chancellor and congratulated him on the new appointment, which he described as well-deserved.
