Google’s doodle is today dedicated to late Nigerian filmmaker and broadcasting executive Amaka Igwe who was born on this day in 1963. She was the owner of Top Radio 90.9 Lagos and Amaka Igwe Studios.

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mrs Aisha Buhari, has taken to Twitter to celebrate her 30 years wedding anniversary to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Through her verified Twitter handle, @ashiambuhari, Mrs Buhari tweeted a video collage of the couple, with their children and grandchildren.

Multinational technology giant, Google, is celebrating the 119th birthday of late Nigeria teacher, political campaigner, women’s rights activist and traditional aristocrat, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti with a Doodle.

The Doodle, illustrated by Nigerian-Italian guest artist, Diana Ejaita, celebrates a formidable leader who founded what many refer to as one of the most important social movements of the twentieth century. Diana Ejaita weaves together Ransome-Kuti’s likeness with women whose lives she changed. The Berlin-based artist’s style of combining dramatic blacks and soft colours to show “the strength of femininity” aligns well with Ransome-Kuti’s powerful story.

YouTube celebrates Afrobeats, spotlight on Burna Boy

YouTube on Tuesday launched its spotlight story documentary on Nigerian Afro-fusion singer and songwriter, Damini Ogulu, known professionally as Burna Boy.

Addy Awofisayo, YouTube Content Partnerships Manager, Sub- Saharan Africa, said that Burna Boy had become one of the leading musical voices on the African continent and an international YouTube sensation.
