Igbo Folks In China Celebrate Culture With New Yam Festival

The Guangzhou Chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in China recently celebrated its first New Yam festival.

The event, as expected, showcased the rich tradition of the Igbo, with many Nigerians and Africans from all walks of life in attendance.

Mr. Jude Igboekwe represented the Consul General, Guangzhou Province, China, Mr. Wale Oloko at the event. Sir Anthony Okafor, President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, China Chapter and other eminent personalities were also in attendance.

Cries of celebration went up across Lebanon on Tuesday as protesters demanding the fall of the government celebrated Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s resignation – though most said this was merely an initial victory in a long-term battle.

Six months after a partnership for the co-production of’ “Gist Nigeria”, BBC and Nigeria’s Channels Television on Tuesday night in Lagos celebrated the programme’s success.

Gist Nigeria, a 30-minute studio show, inaugurated six months ago by BBC and Channels, focuses on stories behind the news, with original story telling and audience interaction.

Mr Jamie Angus, BBC’s Director of World Service group, said at the celebration ceremony that the partnership with Channels was the
