Residents Cry Out As Cattle Rustling Resurface In Katsina

Residents of Dutsin-Ma Local Government of Katsina State have lamented the nefarious activities of hoodlums suspected to be bandits in the area even as they claimed villages in the area remained unsafe.

The residents said the level of insecurity in the area was still disturbing despite heavily armed security personnel deployed to the state by federal government and the rapprochement between government and bandits.

They expressed concern about what they termed deteriorating security situation of the local government in separate interviews with THISDAY in the area friday, alleging that communities in the area were still unsafe for inhabitants.

Suspected Cattle Rustlers Kill 4 In Kaura LG – Police

The Police Command in Kaduna state has confirmed the death of four persons allegedly killed by cattle rustlers at Marbar Agban in Kagoro Chiefdom in Kaura Local Government Area.
The command`s Public Relations Officer, DSP Yakubu Sabo confirmed the incident to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kaduna.

He said the victims; Hosea Ayuba, Ado Adamu, Abagu Danladi and Kusa Danladi of Marabar Agban, Kagoro were killed while three of their cattle were carted away.

Katsina Spends ₦200m On Demarcation Of Cattle Routes

The Katsina State government has expended a whopping sum of ₦200 million in demarcating grazing areas and cattle routes as part of effort to curtail herdsmen and farmers clashes in the state.

The state government has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Maradi State government in Niger Republic on the movement of cattle and herdsmen as well as the tracking of cattle rustlers and other criminals within the two countries.
