Ize-Iyamu: I Will Not Withdraw Pre-Election Suits

Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Edo September 19 governorship election said he will continue with the suit challenging the suitability of Governor Godwin Obaseki to participate in the election.

He, however, said he will not challenge the outcome of the election at the tribunal.

Obaseki defeated the APC candidate in the election to secure a second term as the governor of Edo State in the result declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission on 20 September in Benin city, the capital of Edo State.

Bayelsa PDP Candidate Describes Process as Smooth, Peaceful

Sen. Douye Diri, Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for the Bayelsa governorship election, on Saturday, described the electoral process as “smooth and peaceful”.
Diri made his thoughts known while speaking with newsmen shortly after casting his vote at Polling Unit 4, in Sampou, Kokuma-Opokuma Local Government Area of the state.

He said that observations and feedbacks from some members of the public indicated that the process had been smooth and peaceful in some areas “although we have received calls concerning anomalies in some parts of the state.

“We urge the security agencies to be vigilant.”

Appeal Court Restores Lyon As APC Governorship Candidate

 An Appeal Court sitting Port Harcourt, Rivers State as restored Hon David Lyon as the All Progressive Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the November 16 governorship election.

A Federal High Court sitting in Yenagoa, has declared invalid the announcement of David Lyon, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate and that of his running mate, Degi Eremienyo, for Saturday’s governorship election in Bayelsa.

Dr Sunday Abuh, candidate of the United Peoples’ Congress (UPC), in the Nov 16 Kogi governorship election, has distanced himself from claims that he had stepped down from the race and endorsed All Progressives Congress’s Yahaya Bello.

Mr Moses Damisa, UPC Chairman in Kogi, had told newsmen on Friday that Abuh had stepped down for Gov Bello, adding that the party’s structure had been collapsed into Bello’s structures.

A Lokoja High court, yesterday, adjourned  a case seeking to disqualify the candidate of the peoples Democratic party, PDP, Musa Wada, from contesting the election to Nov 27.

The People’s Democratic Party ( PDP ) has charged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately declare its candidate, Abba K. Yusuf, as the winner of the Kano governorship election.

Nigeria’s anti-graft agency Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Saturday arrested an agent of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State with millions of naira.

The anti-graft agency said the suspect was arrested in Makurdi, the state’s capital.

The suspect claimed he is an agent of APC governorship candidate in Benue State, Emmanuel Jimeh.
