War: Russia Blacklists 43 Canadians, Canada Fires Back

Russia yesterday announced a ban on 43 more Canadians from entering its territory, in response to sanctions imposed by Ottawa over Moscow’s offensive in Ukraine.

Then, Canada retaliated by imposing further penalties on six Russian nationals as well as 46 businesses involved in the nation’s defence industry.

Both Mark Carney, the former governor of the British and Canadian central banks, and Suzanne Cowan, the head of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberal Party, are named on the latest blacklist released by the Russian foreign ministry.

Additionally penalised are senior government employees, political advisors, and members of civil society.
