BREAKING: Court extends remand order on dismissed Inspector

An Ebute-Meta Magistrates’ Court, Lagos has extended till June 10, its remand order against a dismissed Police Inspector, Olalekan Ogunyemi, charged with murdering a football fan, Kolade Johnson.

This means that Ogunyemi, 45, who has already spent 30 days in Ikoyi Prison custody following his remand by the court on April 6, will now stay in custody for 35 more days.

Magistrate A.O. Salawu extended the remand order because the advice on the case which was expected this morning from the Office of the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), is not ready.

Ogunyemi was also not in court.…

BREAKING: APC suspends former Ekiti Gov Oni indefinitely

Chief Segun Oni, the immediate past Deputy National Chairman (South) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been suspended indefinitely from the party.

Oni, who was also a former governor of Ekiti, was suspended over alleged anti-party activities.

In a letter dated May 1, 2019 and addressed to Oni by the party’s executives in Oni’s Ifami Ward II, Ekiti, the party said it took the action over the failure of the party chieftain to appear before them to clear the allegations against them.

BREAKING: Four feared killed in Lagos train accident

At least four persons were feared killed after a train crushed a tricycle in Lagos in the early hours of Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 6:45am at Iju Ishaga, a Lagos suburb.

It was gathered the tricycle carrying passengers had attempted to cross the railway when it got trapped and was eventually crushed by the locomotive train.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has set aside the conviction of a former Chief of Transformation and Innovation at the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Major General Ibrahim Sani, by a Special Military Court Martial.

The appellate court, in a unanimous judgment of a three-man panel, led by Justice Abubakar Datti Yahaya, voided the proceedings leading to the conviction and sentence.

The Court of Appeal was of the view that Major General was denied fair hearing in the trial process.

Breaking: Two arrested for selling three siblings for ₦.5m

Men of the Edo State Police Command have arrested two men, Kenneth Ofeke and Stephen Obi, who sold three siblings for N500, 000 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Names of the siblings were given as Wisdom, Kenneth and Sunny.

They were said to have been taken from Edo State and sold in Port Harcourt to a woman who later resold them to other persons in Lagos State.

The police are yet to determine whether the children are still alive.

Breaking: CCT dismisses Onnoghen, bars him for 10 years

The Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) has found the suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Walter Onnoghen guilty of violation of the code of conduct for public officers.

CCT Chairman, Danladi Umar, in a judgment on Thursday, held that the prosecution proved beyond reasonable doubt that Onnoghen is guilty.

CCT says it has jurisdiction to try Onnoghen made false asset declaration by deliberately omitting to declare the five domiciliary accounts he maintained with Standard Chartered Bank, and in which huge deposits were found.

Nigeria’s U-17 team, the Golden Eaglets have qualified for the World Cup holding later in the year in Brazil.

The Manu Garba-tutored boys defeated Angola 1-0 in Tanzania at the ongoing Africa qualifiers.

The only goal was scored in the first half through a penalty.

The Golden Eaglets dominated the game but lost many goal-scoring opportunities in both halves.

Breaking: EFCC lays siege in Court to arrest Ajumogobia

A mild drama is brewing within the premises of Ikeja High Court,  as operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have laid seige in a bid to arrest a former Federal High Court Judge,  Justice Rita Ofili Ajumogobia .

This followed the striking out of the 30 count charge suit against Justice Ajumogibia by Justice Hakeem Oshodi.

Ajumogibia is facing charges bordering on corruption and abuse of office by a public officer.

Breaking: Access Bank unveils new logo

In conclusion of its merger with Diamond Bank, Access Bank Plc, has unveiled its new logo, signalling the commencement of a new enlarged banking entity.

At an elaborate ceremony at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, dignitaries gathered to witness the birth of the new banking entity.

BREAKING: Court dismisses suit seeking to sack Oba of Lagos

An Ikeja High Court has dismissed a suit seeking to oust Rilwan Akiolu, as the Oba of Lagos.

Justice A. Candide-Johnson held that the claimants, Prince Adedoyin Adebiyi and Prince Rasheed Modile, two members of the Lagos royal family, failed to prove their case.
