Breaking: DSS Releases Sowore

The Department of State Services (DSS) has released the convener of #RevolutionNow Movement, Omoyele Sowore.

Sowore was released after a federal high court in Abuja gave Nigeria’s secret police  a 24-hour ultimatum.

The court also awarded N100,000 against the prosecution for failing to comply with court orders requesting the release of Sowore and for not serving the defense counsel with necessary documents early enough.

The penalty, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu said, must be paid to the defendants before the commencement of trial. The judge consequently adjourned hearing till Friday.

The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) on Wednesday declared that there was no evidence that INEC transmitted the results of the 2019 presidential election electronically to any server.

Delivering judgement on the matter, the chairman of the tribunal Justice Mohammed Garba said that the petitioners – PDP and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar failed to prove the existence of an INEC server or that the electoral commission transmitted results electronically.

The European Union Election Observation Mission has knocked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and political parties for their actions in the last general elections.

EU noted there were shortcomings in INEC’s operations while leading political parties were at fault for not controlling their supporters who unleashed violence on electorates.
