Breaking: FG, South West Govs Take Decision On Amotekun

The federal government and the Southwest state governors on Thursday, agreed to set up a legal framework to legalise the establishment of a regional security outfit, operation Amotekun.

Amotekun, an initiative of Southwest Governors, was first declared illegal last Tuesday by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.

The agreement was reached after a closed-door meeting presided over by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, TVC reports.

THISDAY earlier reported that Osinbajo met with the southwest Governors immediately after the expanded National Economic Council meeting.

Breaking: Boko Haram Kills CAN Official Abducted In Adamawa

Boko Haram insurgents have killed Lawan Andimi, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Michika local government area of Adamawa state.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, office in Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State, was early Saturday set ablaze by unknown arsonists.

Breaking: Iran Finally Admits Shooting Down Ukrainian Plane

Iran has finally admitted that its military “unintentionally” shot down a Ukrainian jetliner, killing all 176 onboard.

This was contained in a statement on Saturday morning where it also blamed “human error” for the incident, adding that the military mistook Flight 752 for a “hostile target.”

 

Recall that jetliner, a Boeing 737 operated by Ukrainian International Airlines, went down on the outskirts of Tehran during takeoff just hours after Iran launched a barrage of missiles at US forces in Iraq.

Iran had earlier denied shooting down the plane, saying it was impossible for such thing to have happened.

Breaking: Scores Feared Dead As Explosion Rocks Kaduna

Several persons have been reported dead in a gas explosion that occurred at a shop along Kachia road in Sabon Tasha, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna.

The reason resulting to the explosion of the gas is not yet known at the time of this report, but the sound of the explosion attracted people within and outside Sabon Tasha to the scene.

As at the time of filing this report, the shop where the gas is being sold and other shops are up in flames.

Breaking: Court Clears APC To Conduct Congresses In Rivers

The coast is now clear for the All Progressives Congress,APC, to conduct its Ward Local Government and State Congresses in Rivers State.

This is because a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has struck out the originating summons brought by one Ibrahim Umar and twenty-two others against the APC.
