Senate Task NEDC To Rebuild Religious Buildings

Following the wanton destruction of religious and public institutions by the Boko Haram insurgents across the Northeast, Senate on Tuesday adopted a motion asking the North East Development Commission (NEDC), to embark on reconstruction and rehabilitation.

The decision followed a point of order by Senator Aisha Dahiru Ahmed Binani representing Adamawa Central Senatorial district, explaining that attacks being orchestrated by insurgents still continue unabated.

Barring any last-minute change, Former President Olusegun Obasanjo would once again speak on the deadly Boko Haram sect terrorising the nation.

This was disclosed by the Director, Centre for Human Security and Dialogue, Prof. Peter Okebukola, at a world press conference he addressed on Monday at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Buhari Orders Troops: Go After Boko Haram, ISWAP

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered Nigerian troops to pursue the terrorists of Boko Haram and ISWAP and make them pay a huge price, for attacking soft targets in the country.

The Federal Government, through the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar-Farouq, has explained why 104 ‘repentant’ Boko Haram members were freed.

Boko Haram On Rampage In Adamawa Community

Boko Haram insurgents on Friday evening entered Garkida, a town in Gombi, a local government area north of Adamawa State, and went on rampage.

The insurgents were said to have destroyed lives and properties,l.

Sources said the insurgents arrived from somewhere in neighbouring Borno State into Garkida about 7pm, causing residents to scamper for safety, with unspecified number of them being fatally harmed or at least injured.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Suleiman Nguroje told DAILY POST that personnel had been drafted to ascertain the situation.

The leader of the Boko Haram terrorist group, Abubakar Shekau, has given condition for the release of the remaining Chibok schoolgirls in captivity.

Some soldiers at the war front in the north-east have expressed disappointment over the release of 1,400 ”repentant” Boko Haram suspects.  

Babakura Jato, commissioner of information in Borno state, on Monday said that 1,400 had been released in three tranches since Operation Safe Corridor programme was launched.
